Alejandro Builes
Alejandro Builes

Brother Alejandro Builes was one of the 6 founders of the SLB chapter at Penn State University in the fall of '97. He graduated in '01 with a dual degree in Supply Chain Management and International Business. Over the last 8 years Alejandro has been working for Kraft Foods, starting his career in New York and then relocating to Chicago. He has held roles of increasing responsibility as a Supply Chain Manger, e-Commerce Manager, and is now serving as a Senior Buyer in Kraft's corporate offices.

Within the Fraternity, he has held several positions including Northeast District Lieutenant Governor, President of the NY Alumni Association, ex-officio member of the Educational Foundation and two terms as the Vice President of Alumni Operations. In January of 2009 he assumed the position of Chairman of the SLB Educational Foundation's Board of Trustees.

James is one of the original members of the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation, having served in various positions on the Board of Trustees since its conception. As an alumnus of Gamma Chapter, he received his BA degree in secondary education from Illinois State University. In furthering his education, James went on to receive his MA degree in educational leadership from the University of Illinois, where he is currently finishing up his Ed.D, also in educational leadership. James lives in central Illinois, where he serves as a high school administrator for Springfield Public Schools.

Brother Ian Bautista is one of 13 founding members of the Phi Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta at Kansas State University. He is currently the President of United Neighborhood Centers of America - a national nonprofit association of community-based nonprofit organizations dedicated to working with their neighbors to improve the future of children, families, and neighborhoods across the country (www.UNCA.org).
 
Murali Balaji

Murali Balaji is one of the founders of the Alpha Beta chapter at the University of Minnesota. He is a journalist and lecturer who has worked for several major newspapers and taught at three universities over his career. He has also been active in other non-profits, including the Asian American Journalists Association and the South Asian Journalists Association. Murali was one of the co-founders of the Minnesota Alumni Association. He lives in State College, Pa., and serves as an adviser to the Omicron Alpha chapter at Penn State University.

As an at-large Trustee in charge of communications, Murali helps to oversee the dissemination of information about the Foundation.
 
Mary Peterson

Mary Louise Peterson was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa on September 16, 1957. She has an Undergraduate Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Higher Education with an emphasis in Administration Management from the University of Iowa. Mary Peterson is a proud Honorary Brother of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Incorporated. Mary Peterson is currently the Associate Director of the Office of Student Life at the University of Iowa. In addition, she is the President of MP Consulting. Mary is the former Executive Director of the Mid-American Educational Association, and is currently a Consultant/Meeting Planner for BACCHUS/GAMMA Peer Education Network. Furthermore, she is a member of the Association of Fraternity Advisors, National Association of Student Personal Administrator, Meeting Planners International, and American Society of Association Executives. Mary Peterson is a member of Alpha Phi National Sorority. She is a past President for Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Incorporated and for Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority.

Several of her accomplishments include the following: The University of Iowa Staff Excellence Award, Diversity Initiatives Award from the Association of Fraternity Advisors, and the National Interfraternity Conference Gold Medal Award. As the Executive Director for Sigma Lambda Beta for the past four years, she works extremely hard to assist the Brothers by utilizing her experience, wisdom, and knowledge in organizational management and Greek Letter Societies.
 
Ricardo Zamudio

Ricardo Zamudio is one of the original founders of Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity. He graduated from The University of Iowa in 1989 with a BBA in Finance and a minor in computer science. He has held various positions on Sigma Lambda Beta’s board of directors including, VP Programming, VP Finance, and President. Ric was the Foundation’s first Chair, serving until the end of 2008. Ric lives in Bloomington, Illinois where he is a manager within the systems department of State Farm Insurance.
